Kayla Laufer, Production & Technical Coordinator (SiM)
Kayla Laufer (she/her) is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and technologist whose work lives at the intersection of movement, sound, and code. She holds a BFA in Dance from Peabody Institute and an M.S. in Computer Science from Fordham University. She is currently the Production and Technical Coordinator for SIM and serves as Director of Technology for Emerging Artist Resources (EAR), where she develops digital tools and platforms that support artists and creative communities.
In the summer of 2024, Kayla joined the inaugural class at Jacob's Pillow ChoreoTech Lab, where she expanded her practice through the integration of AI and AR technologies. Kayla is currently a dancer and rehearsal director with Eryc Taylor Dance. She has also performed works with Chris Ferris & Dancers, Chutzpah Dance Company, Melody in Motion, Rebecca & Mats van Rossum, Vivake Khamsingsavath, and more.
She is the recipient of the 2024 Eryc Taylor New Choreographer Grant and premiered her work at the Martha Graham Studio Theater. Her choreography has been showcased at the Young Choreographers Festival, Koresh Artist Showcase, Dance Studio Alliance Spotlight Series, and Bloom Emerging Artist Festival. She is also the co-founder of Melody in Motion, a collaborative project exploring the real-time interplay between dance and live music.
