CHLOE’S CHOREOGRAPHIC STYLE IN 3 WORDS: INTIMATE, MERCURIA, AND ATHLETIC.

Chloe Crenshaw is a dancer and choreographer from Los Angeles. She has danced with GALLIM Dance Company under Andrea Miller, first joining for their 2023 Joyce season, and she is a former Emerging Artist with Ballet BC under Medhi Walerski. Performance credits include work by Danielle Agami, Trisha Brown, Peter Chu, Andrea Miller, Crystal Pite, David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen, Spenser Theberge, and Medhi Walerski, among others. Chloe holds a BFA in Dance from the California Institute of the Arts (’21). She has also trained at programs including Springboard Danse Montreal, GagaLab TLV, Boston Ballet, and the School of American Ballet. She recently set a new creation on Houston Contemporary 2 and was named a finalist for the annual MashUp Choreographic Residency in the fall of 2022.

THE CAST

Sydney Chow

Sydney Chow is a freelance dance artist from Los Angeles, California. She is currently a company member with Gallim Dance in New York City under the direction of Andrea Miller, where she has performed evening-length works at the Joyce Theatre and Chelsea Factory. She has also performed works by Gabrielle Lamb, Rohan Bhargava, and most recently Crystal Pite and Chuck Wilt at Springboard Danse Montreal. She holds a BFA in dance and a minor in computer programming from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and also attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where she was named a YoungArts winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance.

India Hobbs

Born and raised in the city of Chicago, India Hobbs began training at The Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center where she studied under Homer Bryant. In 2013, Hobbs joined The Chicago Academy for the Arts freshman class of 2017. During India’s time at The Academy, she performed works set by Brian Brooks, Jonathan E. Alsberry, Stephanie Martinez, and Preston Miller. Following her completion of high school, Ms. Hobbs enrolled into The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she continued her training During her time at The Conservatory, India has performed choreography by Junichi Fukuda, Loni Landon, Catherine Coury, Martha Nichols, and a choreographic offering from Mark Morris. In 2021, Hobbs received her BFA in Contemporary dance and shortly after, moved to New York. While residing on the East coast, Hobbs has had the opportunity to perform in the 2021 Open Call Exhibition at The Shed, alongside installation artist, LeAndra Leseaur. India also performs with art collective Haus of PVMNT, led by Christopher Kinsey and Maggy Costales. Most recently, Hobbs has joined Brooklyn-based dance company, GALLIM, directed by Andrea Miller. During India’s time in New York, she has also had the opportunity to work and connect with choreographers like Roderick George and Olga Rabetskaya. When India is not dancing, she enjoys teaching students all throughout New York, and has been fortunate enough to teach at The Juilliard School, STEPS on Broadway, and Kanyok Art Initiative. Hobbs hopes to continue to elevate her artistry in connection and community.

Eleanor Simmons

Eleanor Simmons is a multi-disciplinary artist originally from San Jose, California. She recently graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance from the University of California, Irvine where she was recognized as a Donald McKayle Scholar and currently resides in New York as a member of GibneyPRO under the direction of Alexandra Wells and Bret Yamanaka. Eleanor’s dancing has taken her across the globe, where she has participated in programs such as Springboard Danse Montréal, Nederlands Dans Theater, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. She has had the pleasure of performing works by Ohad Naharin, Parvaneh Scharafali, Peter Chu, Ana Maria Lucaciu, and Laja Field among others. Eleanor utilizes art to empower, grow, explore familiar and unfamiliar territories, and connect to people of all backgrounds through the authenticity of her creations and collaborations. She is excited to further investigate the role of artmaking of various mediums in today’s world.
